Biography
New Groove Formation emerged from the green fields of Bedfordshire over 10 years ago, fusing upbeat ska, reggae, dance, melodic vocals, punchy rap, catchy brass lines, solid groove and everything in between. The inferno has been rapidly gaining speed to create one big hard hitting, dance your socks off ball of musical energy.
The brainchild of Iain Quinn and Haydn Jones the band itself has seen some line up changes over the years, but the ethos remains the same...YOU WILL DANCE! At the heart of NGF there are eight mischievous oddballs bringing together their musical influences, passion for playing and a burning desire to perform... and having a bloody good time in the process!
Over the years NGF have gained more and more notoriety across the festival scene, putting on shows at Bestival, Boomtown, Strawberry Fair, Farmer Phil's and Beautiful Days to name but a few. They have performed at prestigious music venues such as 100 Club, Cuckoo Club, Proud, Barfly and Jazz Cafe in London, Mr Wolf's in Bristol and Coalition in Brighton and played with bands such as Levellers, Dub Pistols, Dreadzone, The Wonder Stuff, Zion Train, Bastille and many more along the way.
July 2014 sees the release of their 3rd album 'Summer in a Glass'. The bar really has been raised to a whole new level and the band could not be prouder of their latest work. Please click here to order your copy.
"Imagine an infinitely loopier Madness, or The Specials on crystal meth. New Groove are a pile driving collision of funk, punk ska soul and rock n roll. Prepare yourselves for a whole new blitzkrieg bop."
Ben Marshall, Uncut Magazine 2011
